Hamlet

Films by Zeffirelli and Branagh of Shakespeare's play

While Shakespeare wrote about 4000 lines for his play, rarely has it been performed or filmed in its entirety. Branagh has taken the First Folio version and combined that with passages that appear only in the Second Quarto version. Thus this 1996 script is longer than any standard version of the play. It is about four hours long. You may well compare it with Zeffirelli’s 1991 version which runs for 134 minutes. ID: SD7-8F
